There are a few ideas here on our poll - please vote on the one you think would be most useful and feel free to reply to this comment with any other ideas!  Every user who replies to this poll between now and the end of August will be entered into a prize draw for an IPod Nano. The prize draw will be announced on the Asite website and on Youtube - so stay tuned.

You need to be logged-in to your Asite account to reply.  If you don’t have one then you should see a big red button just above this post called “Create a free account now”.  Did I mention its free?

Entries close 12 Midnight 31st August, 2009 (that’s the end of the 31st when it’s about to be September for you clever clogs).  One entry per user. Asite staff and their immediate family are not eligible for the prize draw. (sorry! you can still vote…)

David,
Either vote or reply does the trick!

I wish there was a way to view a small version of the document by hovering over it before you click on the Doc. Ref. (in blue) and wait for it to upload.

I would like to see the Asite viewer speed up, at the moment I do most of my viewing in pdf, if the Asite view loaded faster this would save me viewing in pdf and then loading again in Asite viewer if I needed to make any comments.

It would also be handy to be able to view different revisions of the same drawing side by side, with the view ports locked so that scrolling in one also scrolls in the other.

Maybe you should also add “Asite” to the list of words in your spell checker.

Hi Keith

You can actually already do this in Asite using the Compare function!  This allows you to view 2 drawings or revisions of the same drawing and compare them in multiple ways.  You can view them side by side as requested above (see image below).  You can even overlay them and it will highlight what has been added / deleted between the two.

We are actually in the process of writing about this for the Hints and Tips forum, so please keep an eye out there.  In the meantime there is a section on the Help File for this.

If you don’t have compare enabled on your Workspaces then please speak to your Amdinistrator or our support team who will be able to help you out.

Regards Paul

Hi Keely, hope all is going well on your project.  Thanks for the idea, it’s a good one.  We’ll put it on the list of enhancement requests to assess. Regards Paul

Hi Keith, I’ll get one of our support team to give you a call to check through your settings.  The viewer should load in a similar timescale to if you open it in Acrobat reader.

Very good point.  We’re just getting that looked into.  We’ll keep you up to date on it.

How about…

Opening your basket in a new window so you do not loose the place you were working in?

Not logging me out every 120 minutes, could the lime limit be customisable?

Quicker viewing, can we have the option of dowloading a viewer onto our machines, would this speed things up?

Thanks

I would also say speeding up the viewer or having a link to download the viewer.

How about the drawing uploader to be quicker? (When typing in drawing information on large amounts of drawings the system slows down)

Thanks

Hi Sam

Have you tried importing all the drawing information from an Excel sheet?  We have the facility to do this within the Upload manager that should hopefully speed things up for you!  There are details on this in our help file that you can see by clicking here.

I’ll also get our support team to give you a call about viewer loading speed as this should be similar to opening in the native application!

Hope this helps.
Paul

I agree with Jeremy Belcher about the log out every 120 minutes, I am sure the previous version allowed for a longer log in duration, could this be extended again?

blackberrys and i-phone are all the more popular, so it would be great to have asite in your pocket whilst on site.
it would really save time on site if you have not got the correct drawing on your person in those circumstances.
excellent idea!!

The most essential and time saving feature required is the ability to batch download “Attached External Docs” from a comment.

At present you must open three windows to download each comment attachment and then close each window before moving on to the next.

This also applies to downloading of attached Asite mark-up files.

This could be achieved via a new comment basket.

How about Asite for mobile phones running the Symbian operating system?  Also flexible notifications by text message would be useful.
