New Agentic AI capability transforms the Common Data Environment from an information repository to an active project AI team, helping deliver safer, faster, more compliant projects.

[London, UK – Monday, 1st June] - Asite, the global AI information management platform for the AEC industry, announced today the launch of a new generation of AI agents — the Asite Virtual Coworkers™ — designed specifically for the built environment. The Asite Virtual Coworker™ concept represents the next evolution of the Cognitive Common Data Environment: moving from passive information retrieval to active project participation.

Unlike traditional AI assistants that simply retrieve information, the Asite Virtual Coworkers™ combine Agentic AI, built-in domain expertise, and conversational interaction to actively support existing project teams. Asite Virtual Coworkers™ work together with human teams to undertake repetitive tasks to check and validate work, perform regular trend analysis, and fill in project templates based on pre-defined rules.

These novel agents have their own personas and are trained as role-specific virtual experts, such as a Building Safety Act SpecialistDocument Controller, or Project Controls Advisor.  Asite Virtual Coworkers™ enable users to “speak” to them in natural language, ask them to interrogate project data, perform real project management tasks, check packages against the employer’s requirements, or prepare dashboards.

Examples of capabilities released include:

  • Checking uploaded documents against project requirements and regulatory/compliance obligations, including Building Safety Act requirements, where applicable;
  • Verifying template conformance and document completeness;
  • Generating site diaries using historic weather and project data to support delay analysis and claims;
  • Producing project reports using live CDE information;
  • Analyzing health and safety trends across projects and sites to identify emerging risks earlier and support proactive intervention.

By combining conversational AI with autonomous task execution and human-like personalities, Asite is introducing a fundamentally different approach to AI in construction, moving beyond search and summarisation toward intelligent digital coworkers embedded directly into project delivery.

“The industry is moving from reactive chatbots into proactive task execution,” said Dr Jozef Doboš, Chief Digital Officer at Asite. “Construction needs AI that understands programme risk, and compliance obligations, to help teams get work done. The Asite Virtual Coworkers™ go beyond answering questions or retrieving documents. They work alongside existing project teams to support critical workflows directly inside a CDE. We see this as the next evolution of the Cognitive Common Data Environment — transforming it from an information repository into an active project delivery partner.”

A year on from the announcement of Asite’s Cognitive CDE in May 2025, these new agents build on Asite’s ongoing investment in AI-enabled information management and digital transformation for complex capital projects across infrastructure, construction, and the built environment.

“Asite Virtual Coworkers™ are not just a product innovation; they represent a strategic shift from document-driven coordination to outcomedriven, AIassisted project delivery.” said Mahmoud Hleihel, Chief Strategy Officer at Asite. “Customers are under increasing pressure to manage risk, meet compliance obligations, and make faster decisions across complex programmes. By embedding agentic AI directly into the CDE, Asite is helping organisations move from managing information to activating intelligence across the entire project lifecycle.”

Further details on the concept of Asite Virtual Coworkers™ and its first public demonstration of their capabilities will be presented live at Digital Construction Week 2026 at ExCel, London. Learn more.
