ASITE PLATFORM PRODUCT NOTIFICATION

Asite Platform – End of Support for Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)

From January 1, 2021, Asite platform support for Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) is discontinued.

Users will still be able to access the Asite platform using IE11, however, Asite will not provide support for any issues or errors you may encounter using this browser. We recommend users move to a supported browser such as new Microsoft Edge (Chromium), Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

Why is Asite making this change?

Asite is committed to supporting all new browsers and providing users with the best possible experience.

Lack of support:

  • IE11 support is very minimal with only security and bug fixes available.
  • Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 10, and effectively IE11, will be stopped in August 2025.

Slower than other modern browsers:

  • IE11 is slower than other modern browsers including Google Chrome, Firefox, and the updated version of Microsoft Edge.
  • To work in IE11, JavaScript has to be compiled to ES5 instead of ES6, which increases the size of your bundles by up to 30%, making performance significantly worse and limiting the ability to use the features newer JavaScript standards provide.

Security risks:

    • IE is prone to errors and security risks.

John Page, a security researcher, unearthed an issue in the way IE handles MHT files which allows hackers to steal Windows users' local data. As MHT files are opened in IE by default on Windows machines, simply clicking on an email attachment creates a security issue. When Microsoft was informed of the vulnerability, they "declined to consider the bug for an urgent security fix."

According to a Microsoft Executive, Internet Explorer is a 'compatibility solution' and should only be used selectively and not a default browser.

For more information on why users should stop using IE11, please refer to the links below:

https://www.snowbound.com/blog/3546/why-old-browsers-are-bad-for-you/

What action do you need to take?

  • To avoid bugs and errors caused by older browser’s proprietary rendering engine, we encourage all users to move to a supported browser such as the new Microsoft Edge (Chromium), Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

Posted by Denis Antony on Nov 7, 2020 5:04:38 AM

Asite Platform – Visual Workflow updates

Here is a quick overview of the new features:

Visual Workflow - Enhancing the document review process

Project teams can now take full control of the document review and commenting process.

Key highlights:

  • The Asite Visual workflow tool now allows for the configuration of the comments interface – depending on the role of the publisher, comments are automatically made private or public based.
  • For example, with this update, comments made during the internal review process of drawings and specifications remain private until the Lead Reviewer has incorporated and issued a final comment to all parties.

Project Administrators can now configure system tasks via groovy script and apply them on folders to automatically control the commenting process based on the user’s project role.

A sample groovy script is available. Please refer to the web-help for the groovy script and steps on the configuration.

FAQs:

  • Will I be able to control the private/public comment option according to user role?
Yes, you can configure the visibility and set the default comment setting for any role as private/public and non-editable/editable.
  • Will I be able to configure multiple roles in the configuration?
Yes, you can mention multiple project roles in the configuration so that if the comment creator holds one of these roles, the configuration would apply automatically.

Asite 20.9

Posted by Denis Antony on May 9, 2020 1:19:00 AM

Enhancements to our international- scale Software as a Service (SaaS) platform

At Asite we remain focused on ensuring business continuity for everyone using the Asite platform and facilitating the delivery of capital projects and infrastructure developments around the world.

Asite’s CEO, Nathan, has highlighted our commitment to continue to deliver at the highest levels in all circumstances and maintain platform resiliency, performance, and security.

We continue to deliver on our promises and are excited to announce our latest upgrade to the Platform: Asite 20.9 – an enhancement of our international-scale Software as a Service (SaaS) platform.

Here is a quick overview of the new features:

Common Data Environment (CDE)

Improved control of private distribution groups with Asite CDE

We are committed to helping you take full control of your data and who gets to see it when. Asite now enables fine-grained visibility management of private distributions at object-level, namely distribution groups, role, organization, and user-level. This feature will prove beneficial to project members who switch roles and need full access to all private information, including historic project information. It also allows Administrators to track and assign visibility in two-clicks.

Fast and simple column filtering

You can now quickly filter directly from your column lists without the added overhead of building search queries. It’s just as easy as filtering on a column in an Excel sheet.

Calculation wizard for your Apps with Asite AppBuilder

Enhance your App design by using the calculation wizard to display calculated fields on your form or use them for conditional display

Create any Form on a Calibrated Drawing with Field Management

Asite allows site users to create any type of form on a calibrated drawing, enabling them to pin-point the form to a specific location on the project. Project teams can now easily track all outstanding site tasks, such as Defects, Snags, Punchlists, Checklists, Inspections, and manage Inspections online or offline.

Supply Chain Management (SCM)

Capital Project Owners and Prime Contractors can now fast-track prequalification by issuing invitations to external subcontractors directly from Asite. This feature significantly broadens the audience of potential subcontractors for project owners, saving time in the procurement process. For subcontractors, this means you can express interest and participate with no subscription hassle and zero barriers to entry.

Asite is also introducing an intuitive interface that allows project owners to quickly onboard subcontractors into their supply chain network. The enhancements offer easy configuration and customization of prequalification templates to source suppliers and keeps procurement costs down.

We recognize the importance of your feedback and continually work to improve the Asite platform with new features and improvements. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with your comments and suggestions.

Asite 20.8

Posted by Denis Antony on Feb 1, 2020 2:32:00 AM

Asite is excited to announce our latest upgrade to the Asite Platform: Release 20.8.

Vendor Marketplace

Capital Project Owners and Prime Contractors can now issue bid opportunities and RFPs to public procurement portals such as the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and other public sector portals directly from Asite. This hugely broadens the audience for potential vendors and can deliver significant value to the procurement process for project owners. For vendors, this means you can express interest and participate with no subscription hassle and zero barrier to entry.

For private-sector project owners, we’ve also introduced seamless integration of the supplier registration and prequalification process to help them confidently source suppliers and then target work packages to qualified trades in their supply chain the first time, keeping procurement costs down.

Integration Announced with Enterprise Cyber-Security (SIEM)

By popular demand from our enterprise customer base, we have now released a production integration connector for enterprise-level SIEM (Security Incident and Event Management) tools. IT Security teams can now configure the Asite platform to push events such as user authentication, project access and user role assignment among many others to their SIEM infrastructure via the Asite workflow engine without writing any underlying code.

Share Dashboards and Search Filters

Graphical dashboards and sophisticated search filters can now be shared with distribution groups and with individual users.

Add Some Color, Any Color

We’ve extended the color-picker options in AppBuilder. You now have access to the entire range of RGB, HEX, and HSL color palettes when you’re designing the next great Asite Form or App for your project team.

Synchronization support added

Seamless synchronization of form status and close-due-date between your Asite apps and the Asite platform is now supported.

Offline Working for all Asite Forms in Field

While using Asite Forms you can now respond to, edit and draft messages in both online and offline mode. Offline messages sync automatically once you are back online.

Visual Workflow engine enhanced

Automatic assignment of any and all form tasks is now supported via system tasks. This means there will be even more time for your users to focus on their day-jobs as the Asite Platform takes care of all the heavy lifting for your project workflows.
