The Festival of BIM & Digital Construction 2020

Asite is pleased to sponsor the world's largest virtual event for Digital Construction which will see thousands of Contractors, Architects, Engineers and BIM & Digital Construction professionals come together to share thought-provoking insight.

Hosted virtually, the global Festival will commence on Wednesday 6 May 2020 and will continue over a nine-week period until Friday 10 July 2020 with sessions taking place 24 hours a day. The Festival is free for industry professionals to attend and you can join the webinars by registering here.

Consisting of over 1000+ attendees, the virtual webinar event will feature over 100 top-level speakers to share thought-provoking content though presentations and exciting panel discussions, and exploring project case studies that are contributing to the industry today.

Delegates include Contractors, Architects, Engineers and BIM and Digital Construction professionals. All sessions also are CPD credited and AIA/CEU approved and online networking and self-development opportunities are available.

Throughout the Festival, the depths of the global BIM and Digital Construction market will be explored with exclusive insights on future trends, key drivers, and the global response to digital transformation to name a few. The full agenda is accessible here.

Webinar participants will feature some of the biggest names in construction, including; Aecom, Arup, Jacobs Engineering, Skanska, Balfour Beatty, Willmott Dixon, Morgan Sindall, Midas Group and many more.

On May 18 at 3PM BST, Nathan Doughty, Asite's CEO, will be moderating a panel discussion exploring 'How Can We Better Capture, Manage and Integrate Data to Facilitate Modelling Technologies, Like BIM and Digital Twins, to Not Only Build Better but to Ensure Resilience?'

Our key points of conversation include:

  • Transforming data management and development of data infrastructure
  • Empowering construction, from supply chains and design to delivery and operation
  • Combating poor data integrity
  • Creating quality BIM and digital twin data
  • Incorporating unstructured data sets

The Panel

Nathan Doughty, Asite CEO, will be moderating the panel.

Nathan led the initial development of the Asite Platform starting in 2002 as CTO and later served as Chief Operating Officer leading global sales growth before taking over as Group CEO at the beginning of 2020. He has spent his career in construction and property technology, having spent time before Asite at Bidcom and KPMG Consulting.

As an American who has spent 20 years based in the UK and 13 years married to his British wife Emma and raising two Anglo-American kids together, he recognizes the importance of international collaborative working. Nathan has been active in standards work for collaborative BIM throughout his career with involvement in BuildingSMART, OpenBIM, and the British Standards Institute working groups for data interoperability. Nathan is a graduate of Rice University in Houston, Texas

Panellist 1: Dr. Jennifer Schooling, Director of the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction at the Centre for Design Built Britain.

Dr Jennifer Schooling is Director of the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), at the University of Cambridge.

CSIC collaborates with industry to demonstrate how better data and information from a range of sensing systems can be used to improve our understanding of infrastructure, leading to better design, construction and asset management practices, and to improve our understanding of how our infrastructure serves our communities.

Jennifer is founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Smart Infrastructure and Construction Proceedings journal (ICE). She also serves on BSI and ISO committees developing standards for digitalisation in the built environment.

Jennifer is passionate about changing the way the infrastructure and construction industries view of data, to become a vital asset in its own right, and as an engineering tool for tackling the key challenges facing industry, including climate change, resource constraint and resilience.

Panellist 2: Amy Lindsay, Global Data Architect at Laing O’Rourke

Amy currently provides guidance and alignment of the overall data environment. Starting by articulating a data strategy that is in line with Laing O’Rourke’s 2025 mission and guiding principles, she focuses on fostering a data culture across the organisation. This includes providing learning opportunities and implementing a robust data governance program, as well as making strategic decisions around data standards and nomenclature insisting on interoperation, interface management and data quality all the while not compromising our agility and flexibility to deliver business.

Prior to Laing O’Rourke, Amy spent seven years with EDF Renewables in North America with her latest role as the Solar & Digital Program Lead delivering optimized performance through digital transformation.

Panellist 3: Prof. Jennifer Whyte, Director at the Centre for Systems Engineering and Innovation.

Jennifer is the Chair for Laing O’Rourke / Royal Academy of Engineering in Systems Integration in the Department of Civil and Environment Engineering at the Imperial College of London.

Jennifer’s ambition is to identify risk and build resilience into engineered systems, bringing her learning back into the laboratory to develop the next generation of digital tools and practices. Jennifer was on the steering group of the ICE 2017 State of the Nation on Digital Transformation.

Jennifer also serves on the ICE Information Systems Panel; American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE) Digital Project Delivery Committee and work with infrastructure owners through the Infrastructure UK Client Working Group Project 13 “Collaborative Project Teams” Programme.
