Al Naboodah Laing O'Rourke were appointed as principal contractor on the Dubai International Airport project and Asite were commissioned by Al Naboodah Laing O'Rourke to provide the collaboration solution.

The Department of Civil Aviation began the second phase of its expansion programme in the first quarter of 2002 and finish by 2006. The second phase involved the construction of Terminal 3, Concourse 2 and Concourse 3 which are a dedicated facility for Emirates Airlines. With the completion of the 2nd phase Dubai International Airport has the capacity to handle 60 million passengers. According to forecasts it is expected to handle around 45 million by the year 2030.
