As a leading provider of collaboration solutions for the construction industry, Asite has a duty to help the construction industry promote collaborative working and an integrated supply chains. The idea of a smarter supply chain must be embedded from initial training to ensure construction graduates know the importance of collaborative working and integrating supply chains.

In February 2007, Asite committed to help ACT-UK build the Centre for Advanced Construction Technologies which will play an important part in helping the UK construction industry to reduce skills shortage.

Asite is now providing its fully featured collaboration tool Asite Project Workflow to Oxford Brookes University. The part time students on the Master of Science Project Management in the Built Environment course will shortly be using the tool to share documents and interact online. Students do not meet regularly and needs a tool allowing them to interact with other students and lecturers at any time from anywhere. Using Asite Project Workflow will help students understand the benefits of using collaboration solutions and just how easy to use collaboration tools can be.

On the 18th of October 2007 Asite held for the University a two hour lecture about the role of collaborative technology in facilitating a sustainable built environment. Nathan Doughty, Asite COO, shared his rich knowledge and experience of the challenges faced by the construction industry in developing an integrated supply chain. After a quick presentation of the key ideas developed by Sir John Egan in his Re-Thinking Construction report, Nathan described how SMBs can overcome the barriers to collaboration and the role of Building Information Model technology in helping project managers to deliver smarter buildings.
